3. Why leadership is not about being the smartest person in the room with Kevin Doak, General Manager at Sanofi Turkey

Welcome to episode 3 where my guest is Kevin Doak.

In episode 1, I spoke with a head-hunter, in episode 2 with a CEO and now it´s someone actually in their first-time leadership role.

I coached Kevin in the “first 90 days” phase and for any leader in, or supporting someone in, this transition I promise a good return on investment for the 25 minutes!

We cover

·      the importance of diagnosing the situation correctly before you  jump into “fix it”.

·      the importance of making a conscious effort to make time for himself, for his own development. “Be honest with yourself.  Pick genuine development areas for yourself and set an example”

·      About stretching yourself in order to build engagement with the team which in Kevin´s case involved committing to learn Turkish.

·      And how he sees his role as “bringing the energy, positivity and clarity of the decisions and directions”

·      It´s about asking the right questions and building the environment where you get honest answers, not just the answer they think you want.

Thanks for listening, and if you think this can help a colleague, please share.
