4. Soft skills lessons from hard tech with LinkedIn´s Jonathan Logue
We talk about Jonathan´s experience at LinkedIn as a candidate - there was a huge emphasis on “what can you add to our culture here at LinkedIn?” and if you are a successful candidate “what will you do when you move on from LinkedIn?”
So it´s not a job for life environment - personal transformation is expected and encouraged.
His Learning & Development role is about setting up leaders for success.
His advice for external hires who could be defined as high-fliers, is “Don’t be defined by the company you used to work for” and “don’t try and change the world until you have understood the new culture, understood the business and built relationships", where the softer skills are the ones that are most valued.

“It’s the softer skills which really set people apart at LinkedIn: relationships (both internally and externally) really do matter”
